It gives me immense pleasure to present a report from the Department of Science
for Ba Sanatan College website. The Vision for the department is “Fostering
Education that develops the child holistically to meet the scientific challenges in
life”. The vision for the department is to provide conducive and contemporary
teaching and learning environment to reach the full potential.
The department consists of 4 dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified teachers. The
science subjects offered at the college is Basic Science for Years 9 and 10, and
Biology, Chemistry and Physics for Years 11, 12 and 13. The school has a wellequipped science lab for the practical classes. The department also facilitates the
teaching of Family Life Education, which is a core curricular subject from Ministry
of Education Heritage and Arts.
The department organizes Science Week every year in the school to raise
awareness on the importance of science in our daily lives, motivate the science
students to take part in competitions, create science models and to take part in
debate on the science topics. The internal competitions and displays also increases
enthusiasm amongst junior students to take up science subjects in senior levels.
The department also takes part in CSSP titration competition, National Biology
and Chemistry Knowledge battles and Chem Quiz competitions.
The Science Department at Ba Sanatan College gives students the opportunity to
develop better scientific knowledge and practical skills not only to pass
examination but to prepare the students for a lifelong learning. The department is
also equipped with a smart TV to supplement teaching and learning. Science
students from the college has been able to secure toppers scholarship and TELS
loans to study in the tertiary institutions in medical fields, science teaching,
engineering, veterinary and skills fields in electronic an electrical.
Finally, on behalf of the department I wish all students very best in their upcoming
external examination at the end of this year. |
