Home Economics in schools helps to develop students’ skills in Home and family Management skills, Basic
Sewing, enterprising skills and Human Nutrition. It provides life-long skills useful in each student’s life
regardless of career choice. Thus, Home Economics is not only a subject in great demand at present but
prominently serves in the holistic education of each student.
The department currently has two dynamic teachers fully qualified teaching 109 students from year 9 to 13.
The students undertaking the subject have shown a keen interest in the subject content, practical work such as
CBA / CAT and activities organised by the department (TEST week/enterprising).
Finally, I would like to thank the Ministry officials, school management, school administrators, parents and
other staff members for continuous support towards overall success of the department.
